Jhirna Zone is one of the most popular safari regions among the available ecotourism zones of the Jim Corbett National Park. The Corbett National Park is fragmented into six different tourism zone to which Jhirna zone was added later in 1994. With the objective to expand the Corbett Tiger reserve, the agricultural region of the Jhirna village and other two nearby villages relocated to some other nearby place were added in the reserve zones. The land then begins growing into an exotic blossoming forest. Due to being functional all through the year for organising wildlife safari against other zones that are closed during the monsoon, the Jhirna zone observes much strolls all-round the year.

Jhirna gate is around 20 km away from Ramnagar city; Jhirna safari is open throughout the year for day safaris. The bookings for day visits into this zone are available over the official website of the Corbett National Park. During monsoon, advance booking of safaris is not permissible for Jhirna reserve because there are chances of heavy rains safaris which can lead to cancellation on any particular day; hence permits for safaris into this region are offered on current basis.

Jungle Safari

Jungle Safari in Jhirna zone of Corbett are organised using the registered jeeps only. It is obligatory to have a registered nature guide with you on all wild tours.

Chaurs or Grasslands

Laldhang Chaur is large open grassland nuzzled around the Jhirna Zone in Jim Corbett. The Chaur is a suitable place for herbivore animals like elephants and deer, which becomes a reason to invite predatory carnivore species like tiger. You can spot many brook streams in this area.

Flora and Fauna

The Jhirna Zone is rich in large open grasslands. The topography generally comprises of deciduous with secondary forest. There are multiple natural streams flowing in the Jhirna Zone. The stream beds are balmy and reachable for exploring the wildlife.

Important facts about Safari in Jhirna Zone

  • Dhela Gate; entrance of the Jhirna zone, around 15 km from the Ramnagar
  • Maximum of 6 adults and 2 children (below 12 years) are allowed in a Jeep
  • 30 Jeeps are allowed to enter the Jhirna forest reserve in a shift
  • Open throughout the year, however, advised to avoid visiting during the monsoon
  • Best Time to Visit is from October to Mid June

Note

If you want to visit Jhirna safari zone, you must have permission from the Director of the Corbett Tiger Reserve. It’s a normal process including your identity and address verification. The process won't take much time and soon you get to enter the park.
