The Sitabani Forests Reserve have been aptly called as ‘Landscape of the Corbett’ due to its nearness to the village set up by Jim Corbett i.e., “Choti Haldwani”, and the place where he spent most of his time wandering the forests. The Kosi River is serving abundant nourishment to the wildlife, the simple settings, and the Sitabani temple offer a unique experience in Corbett. Sitabani tourism zone is open for safari all round the year and there is no limit on the count of gypsies entering the area. Corbett Tiger Reserve Authority does not offer any permit for entry to this zone. However, Sitabani Forest Department is the one offering permission for jeep safari in this area. It also has a famous old temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. There are beautiful different shallow streamlets flowing through the Sitabani, offer enjoyable haven to the tourists exploring the area. The wildlife safari in this zone is famous, and often when Safari permits for Corbett Tiger Reserve (CTR) is not given the visitors choose to explore Sitabani.

Sitabani Forest on Jim Corbett National Park

Sitabani reserve is a newly opened tourism zone in the Corbett Landscape. It is truly a magical experience to have a nature walk in the surroundings of Sitabani zone. It is believed that Goddess Sita spent few days while she was in exile with Lord Rama and his brother Laxmana. There are over 35 Royal Bengal Tigers found in the Sitabani reserve and one can go for trek, and explore the jungle to see vibrant-hued birds with enchanting voices purifying the surroundings. The entry into the Sitabani zone begins from Ramnagar barrage region. The main entrance to the reserve is however at Bhandarpani Village which is 18 km away from the Ramnagar barrage. You can enjoy different tourist spots in the reserve like - Garjiya Devi Temple, Corbett museum, and Corbett waterfalls. There is no other way better for a bird watcher to see some amazing birds.
